Gosia Bartosik operates on the boundary of painting, drawing and graphics. In her works she draws from the rebellious tradition of punk, underground and street art. Gifted with a unique sensitivity and penetrating gaze, the artist creates personal, emotional images of the battle with the everyday.
Bartosik has donated two drawings for the Refugees Welcome auction. The first, from the series “Psia Mać”, shown at her individual exhibition in Zielona Góra in 2017, conveys the strength of the relationship and the complicated network of dependencies between human and animal. The work reflects on the vastness of a dog’s love for a human, reaching a level inaccessible for people.
The other work, “Albino”, takes up the important theme, often addressed in Bartosik’s work, of all types of otherness and being a dissenter. The artist proposes to think about otherness in terms of being exceptional and unique. The albino lion becomes a rara avis.
